pupil Survey

Our children are invited to give their thoughts on life as a pupil at Belmont annually, and most recently in March 2026.

We very pleased to share that:

Belonging and inclusion

Over two‑thirds of pupils report that they feel a strong sense of belonging at Belmont. This was particularly evident in upper Key Stage Two (Year 5 and 6).

Safety:

  • 97.5% of pupils say they feel safe at school demonstrating that Belmont Junior School is a secure and nurturing environment.
  • 94.6% of pupils report that they have an adult they can talk to if they are worried, reflecting strong relationships and trusted adults across the school.
  • Pupils clearly understand how to seek help: the overwhelming majority confidently identified trusted adults, the Feelings’ Boxes and peer support as ways to raise concerns.
  • 99% of pupils accurately recalled the three rules of the Belmont Way showing that expectations are clearly understood and well embedded across the school community.
Behaviour and relationships
  • Over 92% of pupils believe behaviour in lessons is good indicating calm, purposeful learning environments.
  • 97.5% of pupils report good behaviour at lunchtimes supported by effective adult supervision.
  • 99% of pupils feel that adults ensure good behaviour, showing strong confidence in staff consistency and expectations.
Playtimes and lunchtimes
  • 97.5% enjoy lunchtime demonstrating that social times are positive experiences for the vast majority of pupils.
  • 98.5% enjoy eating in the dining hall valuing the social aspect of sharing meals with friends.
  • Pupils particularly enjoy active play and social interaction with football and talking with friends cited most frequently as favourites.
Online Safety
  • The vast majority of pupils (96%) feel safe when using online devices at school. Pupils’ responses indicate growing awareness of online safety systems and confidence in using technology appropriately.

Learning

  • 79% of pupils feel their work is appropriately challenging demonstrating effective curriculum pitch for most learners.
  • Pupils reported particularly high enjoyment in PE, Computing and Art reflecting a broad and engaging curriculum offer.
  • Pupils recognise that learning is purposeful and varied across subjects.

Enrichment opportunities (clubs and leadership opportunities)

  • The majority of pupils report that they have opportunities to take part in clubs, responsibilities or leadership roles with expectations that this will increase further through SMART Council and Action Team representation.
  • Pupils show enthusiasm for being involved and contributing to school life.
